Biobanking and Storage

Barc Lab's state-of-the-art Biobanking Facility

Barc Lab preserves the integrity of your samples in our global network of biorepositories.

Barc Lab owns sample storage facilities to maintain samples collected during your clinical trials. We have storage capacities from ambient to -80°C and liquid nitrogen on a global scale. This service has been designed for companies who require both short- and long-term sample storage, in order to meet increasing legislative regulations and research commitments. All our divisions have dedicated areas for receiving, storage, retrieval and shipment with qualified staff utilizing electronic barcoded sample tracking. There is 100% QC of all shipments in and out of the repository.

Moreover, our Biobanking facility in South Africa is one of the largest facilities in the southern hemisphere and is uniquely designed to use up to 40% less energy than facilities of equal size, whilst its extraction facility is world class. It is nationally and globally accredited for storage of clinical samples in over 13 diseases. The repository provides ideal storage conditions to ensure that samples can be stored in perpetuity. We have an independent monitoring FDA approved system and temperatures and humidity are monitored 24 hours a day. Next to controlled storage of biological samples, we also provide relabeling, anonymization, de-identification and un-blinding services on a routine basis.
